Why Sanya’s Hope For Children having a food drive?

According to Feeding America’s website, Millions of children and families living in America face hunger and food insecurities every day. Due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, more than 42 million people may experience food insecurity, including a potential 13 million children.  Today, 1 in 9 Minnesotans, including 1 in 6 kids, are facing hunger. Since the last twelve years, Minnesota has made slow but steady progress in reducing Minnesota’s food insecurity rate, but COVID-19 has undone the progress. A record number of people are now experiencing hunger due to the COVID-19 health and financial crisis. We are seeing widespread food insecurities around us. Data suggests that in addition to those who faced hunger before the pandemic, 170,000 Minnesotans—including 112,000 kids—are already or will soon face hunger, bringing the total number of people living with the hunger to 630,000.  Due to the current crisis, Sanya’s Hope for Children running a food drive fundraiser. It’s more helpful to have money donations rather than physical ones since we have the capacity to buy $9 worth of food for just a dollar. Every dollar you donate, our anonymous extraordinaire will match those dollars up to $2,000 which means your donations will go a long way. Please donate to help children and families who need help putting food on their table. SHFC is collaborating with CAP Agency together we plan to help our local food shelf. SHFC help distributed over 10,000 meals since the health crisis began, but we can’t keep up with this fight alone. We need our community, our corporate partners, and our donors, volunteers, and advocates to ensure hunger remains critical to our COVID response and recovery. Please help us to help our community.  No donation is too small or too big. Every dollar counts. Make a donation today. Thank you.
