2021 Project Summary

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, our entire year plan has been affected since March 2020. Please keep in mind we continue to help our community with the MDH guidelines in mind (Facemasks, social distancing, and maintaining good hygiene practice).  

SHFC 2021 Local Projects

(We will add projects based on the needs of the local community).

Dates/Months are subjected to change based on the community’s collaboration. Projects will be accomplished, but implementation dates can change.

January – 2020 planning sessions for the entire year.

January – MLK service day project. basic necessities fundraiser and will be collecting socks, underwear, hats, mittens, and blankets.

February– MLK service day project will continue.

March/ April – Book Drive Preparation: SHFC and HOMS collaboration planning/discussion phase We will be collecting gently used books to be donated to “BFA”

March– Planning Phase for sewing teaching session (teaching children how to sew so they can help makes bags for homeless children). April– teaching sessions will be for our SHFC team members only (Sara, Andrea, and Emily).  The fundraising goal for this project is $2,000.

March-May: Food Drive-In honor of the annual “Minnesota Food Share March Campaign”.

Includes: April– GLOBAL YOUTH SERVICE DAY!  Turn Hunger Into Hope Project – Food Drive

and Cereal Box drive to help local children and families in need – The goal is 500 boxes or $1,000.

Our goal of  $5,000 to help local families in need.

MayBook Drive: Collecting gently used books to be donated to “Books For Africa”. The fundraising goal for this project is 10,000 books

May- School Supply Drive Preparation- Talk to the principal Mr. K to round up supplies

May-  FMSC Packing Event: Tentative planning

May-June– Head Start Education/Head Start Awareness Virtual Event-Planning/Discussion.

June -JulyPreparation Phase: Sewing teaching session (teaching children how to sew so they can help makes bags for homeless children).

June-AugustRecruiting sewing volunteers to sew with us (teaching children how to sew so they can help make bags for homeless children).

June-July –Food Drive (preparation for school closing)

June-July-August -Implementation Phase: Sewing teaching session with 4-H as well as the Chicago women welfare board and Youth and support board   (teaching children how to sew so they can help makes bags for homeless children). We changed classes from in-person sessions to online sessions.

AugustWinter Wear Drive -Revaluation(hats, blankets, and mittens for homeless children) Fundraising Goal for this project is $1,000.

August-September-Revaluation Socks and Underwear Drive for Community Connect and delivering all winter donations.

August -September– School Supplies Drive (Christmas Bag project), the Fundraising goal for the entire Christmas Bag project includes school supplies, books, and Christmas toys for this project is $15,000.

September– Volunteering for Community Connect and delivering all winter donations.

October– WE Scare Hunger Food Drive

October– CROP Hunger Walk: Fundraising Goal is $500.

November– Toy drive to prepare for Christmas Bag Event to help 500 homeless children (SHFC and HOMS collaboration).

November– Hope for the Holiday: Fundraising to adopt families to buy Christmas gifts, Fundraising Goal for this project is $2,000.

November– Christmas Bag Packing Event (volunteers will pack 500 school bags with school supplies, a book, and a toy for homeless children).

December– Christmas Bag Project: We understand Student Council or other volunteer groups as a team can not/may not come to an individual house to pack Christmas bags, but they can sign up as individuals.

Sanya Pirani is CAP Agency Youth Ambassador since 2015.

SHFC helps the following as CAP Agency Ambassador:

  • Food Shelf
  • Head Start
  • Crisis Nursery
  • Hope for the Holiday programs
  • Christmas Bag for homeless children and more
